At Gamlingay Village Primary, our key aims in supporting each child’s wellbeing, are to help support each child to:-
- Recognise their own strengths and difficulties.
- Develop self-esteem and self-confidence.
- Work and play co-operatively.
- Compete fairly, win and lose with grace and dignity and respect all others.
- Recover from setbacks and persist in the face of difficulties.
- Make and sustain friendships.
- Recognise and stand up for their own rights and the rights of others.
- Be able to solve problems alone and with the help of others.
- Manage feelings such as frustration, anger and anxiety.
- Understand and value the differences between people.
We believe that by nurturing each child’s well-being, children will become effective and successful learners.
Allyance: Fully Trained Counselling Support
Gamlingay Village Primary partners with Allyance to provide in‑school counselling and therapeutic support for children who may be struggling due to circumstances beyond their control. A fully trained counsellor works with pupils in a safe, calm and non‑judgmental environment, helping them express their thoughts and feelings openly.
Through attentive listening and creative play, children are supported to develop strategies that help them manage worries, build resilience and cope with difficult situations.
If you are worried about your child’s mental health, please do contact the school. We also recommend the videos below which offer useful advice as well as the NHS Children’s Mental Health – Every Mind Matters website which is linked here
